I couldn't resist using some kitty craft paper from my stash. . .of course a kitty laundry room would have fishy wallpaper, right?!?

Hello, it’s Sandy, @sandycogdill, and I am so happy to share these busy kittens.  They are from the new stamp set called, Wash day. When I first saw this set, I thought that I would turn the washing machine into a little shaker.  It is tiny for sure, but I think it turned really cute.

For the background on this card, I used a 1.75" piece of white woodgrain cardstock dusted up with a little Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Ink.  I glued the woodgrain cardstock strip to a piece of turquoise cardstock cut to 5.5" x 4.25".  I cut two pieces of coordinating patterned paper on top leaving a border around the outside.

To make the shaker element, I stamped the washing machine on a piece of white cardstock and hand cut it leaving a thin border. I laid the cut out on top of another piece of paper and cut out around it; this will be the base of my shaker.  I used a small circle die, to cut out the the center of the washing machine door.  I used the stamp that has the kitten behind it (bottom left corner) to stamp out the laundry that will be the background for the little shaker pieces.  I glued my "laundry circle" on the shaker background using the stamped image to line it up in the door opening.  I used 2mm foam tape to build the well for the shaker pieces.  I also added foam tape to make sure that the rest of the stamped machine was supported.  I sprinkled in some Transparent Pastel Shaker Pop in the well.  Once I applied a small piece of acetate to the door, I adhered the stamped machine to the background to seal everything up.

 

I colored my little friends with Copic markers in the following colors:

• BV11, BV13, BV17 - Purple
• R81, R83, R85 - Rose
• Y00, Y02, Y08 - Yellow
• C00, C0, C1 C3, C5 - Gray
• YR20, E21, E53 - Basket
• BG0000, BG000, BG53 - Washing Machine
• YR21, YR23, YR24, YR27 - Kittens

Once I had my friends colored and cut out, I glued them to the washing machine and then used 2mm foam tape to fill in the gap between them and the background.

 

I used one of the sentiments from the stamp set for the front of the card.  I stamped it out, trimmed it and the glued it to another piece of patterned paper to frame it out.  

 

I added a few little glitter spots to fill in a little at the top of the card and they kind of look like bubbles.

I think this card turned out adorable.  I love the little shaker element, it just adds a fun extra detail.

Starring the Caroling Woodland Animals!

For my card today, I couldn't resist using the unbelievably cute Caroling Woodland Animals stamp set. Seriously, these critters in their cozy Christmas sweaters are pure joy! I just love the tiny hedgehog in his Santa hat and the cheerful mouse in his little red sweater—they bring such a warm, playful spirit to a winter scene.

I paired the caroling duo with that sweet, simple Christmas tree from the same set to build a truly charming scene.

Creating the Cozy Night Sky

To make the little animals and the bright green tree really pop, I stamped and colored my images, then mounted them on a black card base.

• Coloring: I used my trusty Copic markers to bring the images to life. The black background really makes the color vibrate. I kept the coloring simple yet dimensional, focusing on smooth blending for their fur and the tree's needles.

• The Snowy Effect: To finish the wintry scene, I created a magical night sky with a classic technique: splattering! I used bleed proof white paint, thinning it down slightly and flicking it across the black cardstock to create a beautiful, scattered starry and snowy effect. It adds so much texture and depth, transforming a simple background into a twinkling winter night.

Hello, creative friends! I'm back for my second post as a Guest Designer for Gerda Steiner Designs! I'm absolutely loving my time crafting with the incredibly sweet Caroling Woodland Animals stamp set (GSD873).

For my second project, I wanted to create a scene that felt warm, bright, and full of quiet Christmas morning magic. It's all about that soft, illuminated glow!

 

The Magic of the Soft Glow

While my last card was all about high-contrast drama, this one focuses on subtle, light-filled artistry. This design features the little mouse in his cozy red sweater, happily caroling next to the stately Christmas tree.

1. Stamping the Scene: I stamped the mouse and the tree onto a clean, white card panel. To give the card a little extra polish, I used a die to add a simple stitched edge around the border.

1. Copic Coloring (The Secret is the Light!): I used my Copic markers with a light hand, blending softly to give the images a painted look. The real trick here is creating the glow effect:

• I used a very pale yellow (like Y0000 or Y00) and blended it outwards from the star at the top of the tree. This simple step makes the tree look like it’s illuminated from within!

• To ground the scene, I added a wash of my lightest blue (B0000) at the very bottom of the card. This suggests a snowy morning or a chilly outdoor ground without distracting from the main focus.

2. Whimsical Details: To complete the look, I stamped the fun musical notes from the stamp set near the mouse to show his enthusiastic singing! The "oh, Christmas Tree" sentiment, stamped in a simple black ink, perfectly captures the feel of the card.

I just love how this card turned out—it proves that these adorable Gerda Steiner Designs critters can shine in any style, from dramatic night scenes to soft, glowing mornings!

 Hello Pumpkin! 

Isn’t this little bear just the cutest? This image is from @Gerda Steiner Designs and it completely stole my heart! I used Prismacolor pencils on kraft paper for a cozy, autumn feel—perfect for pumpkin season. I love how the warm tones just pop against that kraft background.

This stamp set, appropriately named Pumpkin Bear, is such a fun one to color. Between the pumpkins, the scarf, and that sweet bear face, it’s hard not to smile while working on it. 

I kept the layout simple to let the image shine—sometimes less really is more! A bit of die-cut layering adds just enough detail without distracting from that cute fall moment.

I'm sooooo excited to be playing with Gerda Steiner Designs release of "Peaking Over Puppies" and "Puppies and Cake."  I usually like putting the images onto cards, but these puppies insisted on making an appearance on a bookmark.  This bookmark will be making its way to the local library where my sheltie, Lucy and I volunteer (we're a certified animal therapy team). Every Saturday, she looks forward to kids coming and practicing their reading while she listens on.

You don't need any special die to create a bookmark, but I happened to have a stitched bookmark die from Lawn Fawn that I used for this one.  It's so much fun to mix and match the puppies from the two sets, but I thought these four fit this one quite nicely.  I fussy cut out the images and also cut the paws out separately so it would look like they were hanging on to the bookmark.

I chose to identify the breeds in this bookmark as a bulldog, a pug, a shih tzu, and a shetland sheepdog (the latter of course in honor of Lucy).  I actually used Google AI to help identify some copic color combinations by breed:

Bulldog-E55, E53, E50

Pug-E35, E33, E31

Shih Tzu-E47, E44, E43, E42, E41

Sheltie-E35, E33, E31, E19, E18, E08

For all of their noses I used E79 and E74 and a white gel pen.

Who wouldn't love practicing reading with these cute little pups looking on, ready to mark (bookmark that is) the page.  Enjoy!!

 

I took pups from both sets and the cake from "Puppies and Cake" to make this scene. It takes a little masking (my biggest fear), but then it's super easy!

 Just in time for Halloween, Gerda has done it again, creating some sweet little digital stamp ghosts that are perfect for Halloween or any time.  

This particular little ghost fore sure is perfect for Halloween.  I resized and fussy cut him out to pair him with a spooky withered tree against a wavy circle background.  With minimal coloring involved, you can make up a quick Halloween card to give to someone to "spook" up their day!!

I colored the boo ghost with copics:

Ghost:  B000, BV, and colorless blender

BOO:  G07, YG09, and YG13

 

Hello, it’s me again with another fun Halloween card using the Popcorn Bliss digital stamp.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with this stamp, but my son, daughter in
law and grandson invited me to go to the “BOO-vies” to see Beetlejuice 2 since it was “Now Screaming”. My youngest son can pretty much make a pun of anything.
For the background on this card, I wanted to have a movie clapboard for the base. I used black cardstock and a white gel pen to draw the lines. For the striped area at the top, I used the Diagonal Stripes Border by Lawn Fawn. For the stamped sentiment, I used their Claire’s ABC’s stamp set and black heat embossing powder. The die cut letters are cut from yellow and orange cardstock. I used Lawn Fawn’s Oliver’s Stitched
ABC’s to cut them out.
I used the ghost at its original digital size. The coloring was done with Copic markers in the following colors:
 V04, V06, V09
 C0, C1
 R20
 YRO2, YR04, YR07
Once I had the ghost and letters placed, I needed a little something for the space under the “Boo”, so I found a little spider from Lawn Fawn’s Cute Cobweb die set.
I think this is a cute card even if it is a little pop-corny.

Hello Crafty Friends! I am so excited to be on the Gerda Steiner Designs blog today to share a couple of
Christmas cards that I made featuring the absolutely adorable new Beary Merry Christmas set. This super
cute set is part of the upcoming Christmas Release, arriving on October 1 st . I kept both card designs fairly
clean and simple to give all of the attention to these sweet images!

HO HO HO Merry Christmas! My first card is a simple slimline card using the bear in the wreath image as
the O in the HO HO HO.
First, I stamped the image three times onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with
Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with a white gel
pen. Next, I used a 2.25” circle die to diecut each of the images out.
COPIC COLORS:
Bear: E50/51/53/33/99/35, E25/27/29, R20
Hat: R24/27/29/39, C1
Wreath: YG01
Stars: Y13

I used the Impact Alphabet Die-namics to diecut the letter H nine times out of red cardstock. I layered and
adhered 3 letters with liquid adhesive to create three Hs. I highlighted the letters with a white gel pen.

For the sentiment, I stamped of one of the sentiments from the set with Versamark Watermark ink and
heat embossed with a White Detailed Embossing Powder onto a piece of black cardstock. I used one of
the dies from the Blueprints 27 Die-namics to diecut it out.

I took a piece of white cardstock (3.5” x 8.25”). I adhered the letters with liquid adhesive and the colored
images and sentiment strip with foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest. I adhered the panel to a
piece of red cardstock before adhering it to a white cardbase (3.75” x 8.5”). I finished the card with a few
red gems from my stash to represent berries on the wreath.

Have a Beary Merry Christmas! My second card showcases the sweetest bear all decked out in his
reindeer sweater and antlers.
I stamped and colored the images in the same manner as the first card. I fussy cut out the images.
COPIC COLORS:
Bear: E50/51/53/33/99/35, E25/27/29, R20
Antlers: E40/41/42
Scarf: YG01/03/17
Sweater: R24/27/29/39, E:51/53/33, R20
Bird: B00/02/04, Y38, R20
Hat: R24/27/29, C1

For the background, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock with the scalloped die from the Blueprints 27
Die-namics. I masked of the bottom portion of the panel and lightly ink blended with Tumbled Glass and
Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks. I added some dots with a Copic marker (B02) and a white gel pen.
I stamped the two sentiments from the set directly onto the panel with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I
adhered the colored images with foam tape. Finally, I adhered the panel to a piece of red cardstock
before adhering it to a white cardbase (4.25” x 5.5”).

Just when you think you can only pull out your ghosts in October and then only for Halloween cards, SURPRISE!!

First up. . .Gerda has created a sweet little coffee lover ghost digital stamp, who may or may not want to share his coffee with you!!  I resized and fussy cut him out, pairing him with a cup of coffee, because you can never have too much caffeine, right?!?

I colored with copic markers:

Ghost:  B000, BV10, and colorless blender

Coffee cup:  your choice of browns and grays, any light ones will do

Who wouldn’t love to have a cup of coffee with this cute little ghost? I know I would.
I really wanted to use the coffee cup die as the backdrop on this card, but in order to do that, I had to reduce the ghost to about 1.5”. When I printed the ghost, I also printed the sentiment that I had typed for the cup sleeve.
I used a printed paper for the coffee cup and the background. The sleeve and lid are cut from a cardstock that I got years ago that has a mottled gray color. I wish I could find more of it, but all I remember is that I bought it at Michaels.
I used Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink to touch up the edges of the cup, sleeve and lid.
For the coloring on the leaves, I used Distress Oxide Ink in different fall colors. I used a small stiff brush to stipple and blend the colors on the mottled cardstock. I used the leaves from Lawn Fawn’s Fall Leaves Backdrop die to cut the leaves out. I arranged them as the base of the cup and then put my little coffee friend on top,
Since I had shrunk down the ghost so much, there wasn’t a lot to color. I used Copic markers for the coloring though.
Sometimes I worry that my colors are too bright, so this was an attempt at doing
something with more subtle colors.

Hello! Today a have some of my favorite ghoul friends for this card. I combined three of
the digital designs for the bottom of the card. The four digital files that I used for this
card are:
• Coffee Lover Ghost
• Pumpkin Ghost
• Popcorn Bliss Ghost
• Brooming By
I did reduce each of the files so that I could fit them all on the card. I like digital files
because you have the ability to make them fit the card which isn’t always the case when
using stamps.
This build the background, I inked some white cardstock with Distress Oxide Ink in Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin for the moon. The rest of the sky was inked with Twisted Citron, Broken China and Peacock Feathers.
To add to the scene, I used the A-2 Tree Frame from Trinity Stamps. I cut it out of
purple cardstock and then touched up the edges with Villainous Potion and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink.
I colored the ghosts with Copic markers in the following colors:
• B000
• C1, C4, C6
• YR02, YR04, YR07
• R20
• Y02
• YR23, YR27, YR24
•  V04, V06, V09
•  E31, E35, E37
The sentiment is from the Boo stamp from Waffle Flower. I heat embossed them with black embossing
ink.
This was such a fun card to make. It reminds me of my Ghoul Squad. How about you?

 Gerda has created this fun Beary Merry Christmas stamp set.  I just love that this bear is feeling his "inner reindeer?!?"  And this is just one of two cute bears in this set.

I decided to give Mr. Reinbear a slimline card so he could share a big Merry Christmas with everyone.  I fussy cut the characters, colored with copics and paired them with a Merry Christmas die cut from foil cardstock.

Now I may have gone overboard with the Christmas Trees and snow flakes.  But I couldn't help myself!  It's been a while since I've created and this is such an adorable set. I just went nuts!!!!!

Plus I used my kinda new OLO Markers...Yummy.

I had so much fun creating this step out card with Caroling Puppies, I will see you again next month for two more surprise designs just for Gerda!  There may be even a few surprises on her FaceBook Group!  So keep an Eye posted!

Hello Crafty Friends! I am thrilled to be Guest Designing again for Gerda Steiner Designs! Today I have a couple of birthday cards to share with you featuring the absolutely adorable Strawberry Mouse Clear
Stamp set. I kept both designs fairly clean and simple to give all of the attention to the sweet and innocent
face on this super cute mouse!

 

Have a Berry Sweet Day!

My first card is a simple one with just a little splash of color in the background to
highlight the strawberry theme. 
First, I stamped the images onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with gel pens. 

Next, I fussy cut the
images out with a sharp pair of scissors.

COPIC COLORS:
Mouse: E50/51/53/33, R000/00/30, E25
Strawberries: R20/21/22/24/27/29, YG01/03/17

I took another piece of white cardstock (4.25&quot; x 5.5&quot;) to create the card front. I used masked off the
bottom half of the panel and ink blended the top portion of the panel with some Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks. I trimmed off 0.25&quot; from the left and right sides of the panel to remove the harsh edges of my ink blending as well as to add a bit of interest to my final carddesign.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the set directly onto the inked panel with the same Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added a piece of craft foam to the back of the panel before adhering it to a white card
base (4.25&quot; x 5.5&quot;). Finally, I adhered the strawberries liquid adhesive and the mouse foam tape for a bit
of dimension and interest.

Happy Birthday! For my second card, I created a fun but very simple design that allowed this adorable mouse to be enjoyed on the card front as well as the inside. Why should the fun stop at the front of the
card, right?
I stamped, colored and fussy cut out the mouse and one strawberry image in the same manner as the first card.

I took a piece of white cardstock (4.25&quot; x 11&quot;). I used a score board to score and fold at the 5.5&quot; mark to create a top-folding cardbase. 
In order to create a cutout, I used the colored mouse as a guide to position a 3&quot; circle die on the lower right corner of the front flap of the card. I used the fifth smallest die from the MFT A2 Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics but any 3&quot; circle die can be used to create the same effect. Low-tack tape was used to secure the die to the cardbase. Before running it through my diecut machine, I made sure to remove the colored mouse and unfold the cardbase so as to only diecut the front panel.

For the sentiment, I stamped of the word Birthday from the set with Versamark Watermark ink onto a piece of anti-static treated black cardstock. I added white embossing powder before heat setting the
embossing. I used a sharp pair of scissors to fussy cut around the word. I used Birthday word to position and stamp the Happy word directly onto the front panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I also stamped
the &quot;Have a berry sweet day&quot; sentiment on the inside of the card -- making sure to position the sentiment high enough so that it cannot be visible through the circle cutout on the front flap when the card is closed.

Using the circle cutout as a guide, I adhered the mouse to the lower right corner of the inside of the card with liquid adhesive. Then I adhered the strawberry and Birthday word to the front of the card with some foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest.

Hello friends! I hope you are well. I recently needed a get-well card and realized that I
really hadn’t made very many, so I definitely needed to change that. I figured a good
start would be to use this cute little friend from Gerda Steiner Designs. Gerda always
captures a moment. This stamp set is called Under The Weather.
To create the background, I blended Uncharted Mariner, Peacock Feathers and
Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink. Once I liked how it looked, I spritzed it with a little
water and then spattered a little silver metallic watercolor.
Although I have both a raindrop background die and a stencil, I thought that the Stitched
Windy Backdrop die from Lawn Fawn would give me a more subtle pattern.
I used the On Solid Ground stamp from My Favorite Things for the cobblestone
sidewalk. Once I cut that out, I quickly realized that I was going to have to lift that
sidewalk up a little bit to be able to get my little friend higher up towards the top of the
card. I decided that I could cut a strip of grass using the Grassy Border die from Lawn
Fawn, which was also a perfect place to add my sentiment.
Once I had the grassy piece cut out, I added a little Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide to
add a little dimension. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.
After I attached the grass and sidewalk to the card, I was still looking for a little more
height, so I added a little fence using the Little Farm Fence from Lawn Fawn. I used a
really light gray cardstock for the fence and added a little Pumice Stone Distress Oxide
Ink to tone it down a little.
Coloring in my little mouse was the fun part of the card. I used Copic Markers in the
following colors:
 Y15, Y19, Y38 - yellows
 W00, W1, W3 - mouse
 R05, R14, R29 - reds
 BG23, BG13, BG18 - blue greens
 R20, R21 - pink accent
 YR23, YR24, YR27 - bricks
Once I had my mouse attached, I added some little hearts as my raindrops and a few
little clouds. The clouds were cut from Lawn Fawn’s Simple Puffy Cloud Frames. That
is one of my favorite dies because it gives you the cloud shape but it still allows the
background to show.
I just love the way this card turned out. He is just so cute with his little umbrella!

Hi there friends.

This is Sandy and I have a super colorful card today using the Thanks A Melon Printable Greeting Card.
I used my Brother Scan and Cut to cut out the cute little watermelon. The coloring was
done with Copic Markers in the following colors:

• RV11, RV13, RV14
•  YG06, G07
For the background, I wanted to kind of simulate the green strips on a watermelon. I
tried to ink white cardstock freehand, but I wasn’t getting the look that I was after. I dug
through my stencils and decided to use the Sunray Background Stencil from Lawn
Fawn. I used Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink to cover the entire piece of cardstock,
then I used the stencil with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink. I watered down some
Mowed Lawn Ink and spattered the entire background. I used a 4” x 5 ¼” die with
stitched edge detail to cut out my background.
I loved the sentiment that was on the printable but I thought I would mix it up just a little
bit. I used the Giant Outlined Thanks from Lawn Fawn and then I heat embossed “A
Melon” using white embossing powder on black card stock.
This was a really fun and quick to make.

Hi, Maria Petkash here with this cute penguin Christmas card featuring the “Decorating Penguin”
Digital Stamp.

To create this card, I started by opening a blank file in Photoshop sized to 4.25” x 5.5”.
I opened the digital image in Photoshop and re-sized it to 3.5” square.
I added the sentiment using the Text Tool. The font is Bradley Hand Bold, 14pt.
I printed the image on Neenah 80 LB Solar White cardstock and colored the image with Copic Markers:
Tree: YG17, YG09, YG05, YG11
Ornaments: R39, R29, R17, Y18, Y15
Box: C3, C1, C0
Lights: YG03, YG01, YG21, R37, R08, R05
Penguin: C9, C7, C5, C1, C0, Colorless Blender, Y18, Y15, Y13
Ground: W1, W0
I used a stitched rectangle die I had in my stash to cut out the panel.
I glued the white panel with the image on a piece of black cardstock measuring 5” x 3.75”.
I glued the black panel on a piece of patterned paper measuring 5.25” x 4”.

Hello, it’s Sandy again.

Today I have a card that I created with the Dog and Butterfly
digital stamp.
I didn’t change the size of the .jpg but I thought that since I was going to be printing it, I
would add a sentiment. I like punny saying so this one is perfect for this card.
As I have done in the past, after I print the illustration, I covered the dog and butterfly
with a sticky note that has adhesive over the back of most of it, and then ran the paper
through the printer again to create a mask.
Once my mask was cut out and applied, I used the On Solid Ground stamp from My
Favorite Things to place the ground. I then masked that off so I could start my ink
blending.
For the grass, I used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink along with the
Grassy Stencil from Lawn Fawn. After the ink was set, I added a little of the Twisted
Citron behind the grass blade to create a little more ground area. With Stormy Sky
Distress Oxide Ink, I laid in the clouds using the Cloudy Stencil from Lawn Fawn. I then
speckled the sky with some watered-down ink. In retrospect, I wish I hadn’t done that
because it does take away from the sentiment. Oh well, next time, right?
All the coloring is done with Copic markers in the following colors:
 Y11, Y21, YR23, YR24 – dog
 E31, E37, E47 – rocks and ground
 R14, R29, R39 – dog collar
 G07 – grass blades
 RV52, RV55 – butterfly
Once it was colored, I used a 4” x 5 ¼” stitched edge die to cut it out. I like to use this die because I like
to have a border around my cards. I chose a pink colored card stock to bring out the little butterfly.
I really enjoy using digital stamps because they are so quick to make and take very minimal supplies.
