Happy Birthday - by Jen

Hi, everyone!
My name is Jen and I am absolutely thrilled to be guest designing for Gerda Steiner Designs, showcasing the Cupcake Mice stamp from the new release.
I started by stamping out all of the mice and cupcakes on white cardstock. Even brand new out of the package, they stamped beautifully. I used Momento tuxedo black ink because I wanted to color with Spectrum Noir Tricolor Blends which are an alcohol marker. I kept it pretty simple and used Brown Grey and Light Pink blends for the mice. I couldn't decide what flavor of cupcake (I love them all!) but settled on chocolate. I colored the cupcakes and frosting with Earth Brown and used the same Light Pink from the mice on the cupcake wrappers. For the party hats, I used Light Yellow and Green Turquoise. The mice look so cute and ready for a party!
I cut the mice out with my ScanNCut but they would also be really easy to cut out by hand. I stamped the sentiment in the bottom center of a white rectangle in black ink (Momento Luxe) and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I backed the white rectangle on a piece of holographic cardstock that I had in my stash and placed the mouse above the sentiment. For this card I decided to use the mouse carrying that huge stack of cupcakes.
I wanted to keep my card fairly simple to showcase the adorable stamp. I created a background panel with a star stencil (the one I used is from Erin Lee Creative but use whatever stencils you have on hand). I blended picked raspberry distress oxide ink through the stencil and topped it off with glitter paste. I glued that to my card base, glued on the rectangle with the mouse in the center of my star background, and finished everything off with some iridescent gems.
I created a few other cards with the stamp set and will post those on my Instagram. Please give me a follow @jlmakescards.
Thanks for looking! And thanks to Gerda Steiner Designs for having me as a guest designer.
