Congrats on your new place - by Danielle

Hi everyone,

This is Danielle Dunlop with you today and I’m sharing a card that I created with the new Cats and Boxes stamp set. This stamp set has three adorable cats in boxes images and comes with a variety of sentiments so that you can create cards for different occasions.

I hardly ever create a card for someone who is moving, but this stamp set is perfect for it. I started stamping one of the cats in a box on a stitched die cut background and also created a mask for this image.

With the mask on top of the image I stamped a wooden floor halfway over the image, so that it looks like the box is standing in a room. I used a light brown stamping ink that is alcohol ink marker friendly, so that I wouldn’t have any bleeding issues coloring the floor.

For the wall of the room I used a brick wall stencil with Distress Oxide Ink Pumice Stone, which is a very light grey. I applied the ink with a very light hand and let it fade out. I used some tape to mark off the floor and at the same time it keeps my stencil in place.

The Copic colors I used for the floor are E51, E53, E55 and E59. First I colored the entire floor with E51 to saturate the paper, then I traced all the lines with E59. I created a shadow around the box with E59 and E55 and then blended the colors out with E53 and E51.

When the floor was finished, I removed the mask from my image and colored the cat and the box. For the cat I used T2, T4 and T6. I gave the cat some rosy cheeks with RV10, which I also used for the inside of the ears along with RV00. For the box I used markers R81, R83 and R85.

I used two sentiments from the Cats and Boxes stamp set. The word ‘hello’ is stamped on the box with a dark pink stamping ink. The sentiment ‘congrats on your new place’ is stamped in black in the bottom right corner.

I inked up the edges of my card base with Distress Ink Kitsch Flamingo and added my card front with foam tape to the card base.

Thank you for stopping by today and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create with the Cats and Boxes stamps!
