I die cut a Poppystamps whittle cup from watercolor paper and painted it using Tim Holtz distress inks in browns, reds and oranges. I trimmed the rim of the mug to make the monster look as if it is sitting inside. When I decided it looked just right, I adhered the mug and added a shadow underneath to ground the image.
Then I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Claire black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it a shiny quality. Paint splatters come next in all the colors previously used for the monster and mug. I glued the cardfront onto a light grey cardbase. Finally, I embellished the card with a puffy pink heart for a sweet finishing touch.
I absolutely had a blast creating this card! The "Coffee Monsters" set is a must have. The possibilities are endless. I envision using this set for birthdays, hellos, thinking of you, get well, and of course Halloween! (it's quickly approaching) Thank for taking the time to stop by for a visit. I hope you have a fun-filled day and as you drink your next cup of coffee, may this little monster make you smile!
Thank you Gerda Steiner Designs for giving me the opportunity to be a guest designer. Your images have so much character and are a joy to create with -- I appreciate you!
